Melaka Zoo and Night Zoo
Malacca Zoo was established by the Melaka State Government in 1963, is the second largest zoo in the country. In 1979, the zoo management has been taken by the Wildlife and National Parks has now become a major tourist attraction in Malacca. With an area of 54 acres, the zoo now has nearly 1,500 endangered wildlife and threatened. This zoo, play an important role as a center of Wildlife Conservation as well as a recreation center that can be enjoyed by all walks of life.

The main attraction of wildlife species that are found at the zoo is like gaur, tiger, tapir, and so on. In line with the current zoo development, Zoo Melaka adopted an open concept and maintain the natural green environment.
To achieve its goals , four main functions zoo is as follows :
Breeding In Bracket
Zoo serves as an ex-situ breeding center key for Wildlife and National Parks. In this program, an endangered native species sought after for breeding in the zoo. Successfully bred species including tiger, leopard, tapir, serow, barking deer, deer and others.
Research
Research work focused on medical research / treatment and behavior. Zoo also help researchers Wildlife and National Parks officials and higher education institutes.
Recreation
Zoo provides recreational opportunities affordable for most people. Promotion
underway to attract more visitors and this will add to the revenue of
the government, thus contributing to the development of national
tourism industry.
Education
The program is designed to create awareness to the public about wildlife and conservation. Among the activities were lectures, video shows, the materials and signage issues at all ekhibit zoo.
